Little Dale’s Habitual Gambling Problem

Little Dale’s Habitual Gambling Problem
NASCAR fans seem to love two things more than the actual racing taking place:
Bashing Jeff Gordon, and proclaiming their love for Dale Earnhardt Jr. While the
first often proves to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys, the latter tends to
cause excruciating pain.
Instead of just driving, Junior lets his gambling problems infiltrate the track
and this causes him to lag behind the leaders at nearly every left turn. What’s
baby Dale’s game of choice? Does he like dropping nickels into the one-armed
bandits? Not exactly; although, I’m sure he has a few in his
basement-slash-nightclub. Is he losing all his Bud Light money by playing
roulette to the wee
small hours of the morning? Nope, can’t rightly say that that’s it either. Dale
the younger’s poison is crew chiefs. He can’t seem to get enough of them.
Just last season, Dale was signed to Hendrick Motorsports, home of the winners.
Automatically, he became the team’s most popular driver, even while being one of
the least productive. While with the racing giant, Earnhardt’s crew chief was
Tony Eury Jr. But as it stands today, Lance McGrew, interim extraordinaire,
takes over.
This makes six crew chiefs for Dale Jr. over his relatively short NASCAR career,
with chief number seven to be named at a later date. His constant gambling on a
different individual to guide his driving has done nothing but cause the world’s
most famous goat to crap out of nearly every major race since he took Daytona a
few years back.
Like the therapist told the man who was having problems with his seventh wife,
“Maybe you should have realized it was you after wife number four.” Ah, words to
live by. If only someone could explain to Dale that it’s his foot on the pedal,
maybe he would form a lasting relationship with someone he truly trusts and
allow that someone to exercise his wisdom and assist the winning ways.
Until then, pygmy Dale will continue to be NASCAR’s most famous gambler. He is
to racing what Kenny Rogers is to country music; what Charles Barkley is to NBA
commentary.
But this isn’t about taking out our frustrations on Dale’s insistence that
things are never his fault. Fans simply want the man to race and to stop acting
like upper management.
