The Thrills of Racing and Online Poker
Posted By Diego | Nascar-Betting News | May 28, 2009, 02:26 AM |

Many racers are driven by not just the need for speed but the desire to be first, to finish ahead of the competition and to always keep them in the rearview mirror.
The exact same is true of some of the world’s top poker players, with pros such as Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, and Daniel Negreanu trying hard each year at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) to bring home the most bracelets, which count for ultimate bragging rights in the world of poker as only WSOP event winners get one.
Racing and online poker share many of the same thrills, rewards, and pitfalls;
live online poker to the max and you might wind up rich and famous, if you can avoid crashing out and leaving your bankroll a smoking ruin.
At a certain point it stops being about the prize money and more about the prestige, and knowing that you’ve proven yourself, in front of all the world and all of the fans, to be the best poker player in the world that day, just as each winner on the racetrack knows that no one was better on that day and track.
Just like in racing, many poker players are also seduced by the element of danger and risk, knowing they’re going all out and either going to win or flame out in a fiery crash. No limit Texas Holdem players often find themselves putting all of their chips into the middle on a complete bluff, risking everything in the hopes that their opponent will surrender and fold. If successful, the bluff wins them a huge pot; if not, they lose every penny they have on the table.
